Types of Stamp

There are five main categories of rubber stamps: traditional rubber stamps, self-inking stamps, pre-inked stamps, flash stamps and quick dry stamps. Rubber Stamp Warehouse is proud to offer all five types of stamps.

Traditional Rubber Stamps

Traditional rubber stamps are the oldest type of stamp. Our traditional rubber stamps come with a laser engraved rubber die that is adhered to a plastic or wooden mount. This type of stamp is used in conjunction with a rubber stamp pad. The rubber stamp pads can contain regular rubber stamp ink or specialty ink such as quick dry ink or invisible ink. Traditional rubber stamps come in a variety of sizes ranging from small to extra-large. Larger stamps may be required to be put on a rocker-mount which is a stamp mount that you can rock back and forth to get a good impression.

  • Great for the hobbyist or a stamp that won’t be used very often.
  • Requires an additional stamp pad to ink the stamp.
  • Versatile stamp that can be used with regular ink, quick dry ink or specialty ink.
  • Sizes available: very small to extremely large.

Self-Inking Stamps

Self-inking stamps are the most popular type of rubber stamp.  This stamp has an ink pad built into the stamp that inks the rubber die each time the stamp used. Self-inking stamps are a great stamp for repetitive use. The rubber dies are laser engraved that leave a great impression. Regular rubber stamp ink is generally used in the stamp pad inside the stamp and can be re-inked or replaced over time. Self-inking stamp sizes range from small to medium large.

  • Perfect for repetitive stamping.
  • Stamp pad is inside of stamp that inks rubber die each time stamp is used.
  • Stamp pad can be re-inked or replaced over time.
  • Sizes available: small to medium large.

Pre-Inked Stamps

Pre-inked stamps are a type of stamp in which the ink is injected into the stamp die. This allows pre-inked stamps to be more compact than self-inking stamps. Pre-inked stamps are laser engraved that leave a crisp impression. These dies are laser engraved that leave a great looking impression. Pre-inked stamps should not be used for repetitive stamping as the die needs time to be re-inked from the inking chamber. Pre-inked stamps can be re-inked using the manufacturer’s refill ink. Pre-inked stamp sizes range from small to large.

  • Ink is injected into the die at the time of production.
  • Laser engraved dies leave a crisp and clean impression.
  • Not intended to be used for repetitive stamping.
  • Can be re-inked with manufacturer’s refill ink.
  • Sizes available: small to large.

Flash Stamps

Flash stamps are a newer type of stamp in which the die is a flat piece of foam that is created from light exposure during production. Flash stamps are available in a range of sizes from small to very large. Repetitive stamping is not recommended with flash stamps as it can take time for the foam to be re-inked from the inking chamber. You can get the largest sizes of pre-inked stamps from flash stamps. Flash stamps are re-inkable using the manufacturer’s refill ink.

  • Light exposure creates the foam die during production.
  • Flash stamps leave a crisp impression.
  • Not intended to be used for repetitive stamping.
  • Can be re-inked with manufacturer’s refill ink.
  • Sizes available: small to very large.

Quick Dry Stamps

Quick dry stamps are stamps that can leave an impression on non-porous surfaces such as metal, plastic, glass and other non-porous surfaces. Quick dry stamps are a pre-inked stamp with the quick dry ink embedded into the stamp die.Pre-inked quick dry stamps are not intended to be used for repetitive stamping. Quick dry stamps are re-inkable with the manufacturer’s quick dry refill ink.

  • Stamps that contain ink that can mark on non-porous surfaces.
  • Stamps are pre-inked.
  • Not intended to be used for repetitive stamping.
  • Can be re-inked with manufacturer’s refill ink.
  • Sizes available: small to large.
